Job Description



What you will do: RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL: Responsible for centralized monitoring, control and efficient operation of Information, Communications, Automation and Technology (ICAT) and Building Systems within the JCI Public Private Partnership (P3) portfolio of facilities to the highest standards of quality. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: • Is a key member of a team responsible for efficiently and effectively monitoring, operating and maintaining state of the art, digital, automated and highly integrated facilities. • Is a member of a team responsible for efficiently and effectively monitoring, operating and maintaining the building automation systems and ICAT systems at a number of sites. • Supports real-time decision-making. The specialist integrates multiple data sources to support decision-making based on immediate plant and building conditions, including the coordination and monitoring of multiple services and resources. • Periodically reviews emergency operating procedures. The specialist will take a lead role in mock runs of emergency procedures, and will use the results to refine and improve the existing emergency operating procedures. • Constantly monitors target energy consumption. Takes remedial action when energy consumption approaches warning conditions, and notifies the site business manager. The specialist will work with the energy managers to identify causes and implement solutions to mitigate energy risk. • Seeks out opportunities for energy gain-share and works with energy managers and operations manager to implement these changes. • Coordinates service resources for maintenance or repairs of system components and controls. • Assists the site staff with validating that repairs and maintenance carried out on the systems meets P3 standards. The specialist assists with re-commissioning and functionality testing after repair work is completed. • Continuously optimizes the Building Systems for improved operation. Completes a range of recurring preventive maintenance tasks and systems checks to ensure the systems operate optimally. • Provides after-hours remote site support and emergency response on a rotating basis with other specialists. • Periodically attends the sites in the portfolio to maintain familiarity with the site operations staff, the equipment, and any changes that may periodically take place. • Backs up systems, databases and controller programs and configuration files at regularly scheduled intervals. The specialist ensures these are filed appropriately and that copies are maintained off-site in addition to the on-site files. • Maintains records, reports, as-built documents, drawings and schematics to P3 standards. • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Develops and distributes scheduled reports to Ops Managers, and Customer Business Directors. • Assists with development of incident reports following any major incident. • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
•        Must have a minimum 2-year technical degree and a minimum of 8 years' experience operating plants and facilities, or 8 years’ experience servicing automation controls.
•        Must be thoroughly knowledgeable in automation and control theory; strong knowledge of Johnson Controls automation systems is an asset.
•        Must be a strong team player, committed to working in a quality environment.
•        Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
