Controls Engineer - Located at our Holland, MI facility.

This position is for a Controls Engineer for a lithium ion battery manufacturing process. The desired candidate has the ability to provide technical leadership, work autonomously, and provide support manufacturing operations and maintenance functions by troubleshooting and making design improvement to a wide variety of manufacturing equipment. Must have a strong focus on process controls, safety, and quality. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC Hardware and Software & HMIs (Allen Bradley and others), Robotics, Communications (TCP/IP, DeviceNet, and others), Conveying Systems and Electrical Distribution.
Specific Duties:
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC controls and HMIs for proper function.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Modify and develop electrical and electronic drawings (AutoCAD) for equipment and facilities following standard drawing and electrical practices.
  • Lead verification of electrical safety in equipment design for equipment launch.
  • Assist the manufacturing engineers with keeping equipment drawings current and accurate.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering and operations with downtime resolution and perform root cause failure analysis.
  • Assist and direct outside contractors as required.
  • Keep equipment operational by working with maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
  • Assist maintenance and engineering to ensuring customer expectations and KPIs are exceeded.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management teams.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.    Electrical Engineering or other Engineering Discipline highly preferred. 
  • 5 years of experience in a plant manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in PLC , HMI Programming / troubleshooting AB
  • Experience using RS Logix500, RS Logix5000
