Job Description

What you will do

This position is responsible for design and maintenance of air flow, heating systems for Commercial Rooftop Packaged Air
Conditioning Equipment.

How you will do it

1. Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical aspects of
indoor and outdoor packaged equipment.
2. Maintains understanding of various types of fan performance, energy recovery methods, filtration methods, and
economizer design and operation etc.
3. Coordinates requirements between mechanical designers, purchasing, and production/manufacturing to generate
mechanical assemblies, air conditioning assemblies and other associated component systems for commercial packaged
equipment
4. Analyzes assembly drawings, processes and BOMs to find root cause for product nonconformance during product
manufacture.
5. Recommends and implements corrective action for the above root cause as necessary.
6. Generates technical documentation for use within the company and/or with vendors.
7. Employs system details, and fact-based analysis for problem resolution.
8. Follows established procedures to determine the most suitable parts and alternate parts choices considering costs and
reliability.
9. Possesses knowledge of mechanical systems, and air conditioning systems best practices and safety requirements to
generate and analyze designs.
10. Applies codes found in UL, CE, and NEC.
11. Creates and updates safety agency reports in conformance to above codes.
12. Analyzes designs, modifies, and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical components and subsystems.
13. Prepares and participates in design reviews. Supports technical proposal activities.
14. Extrapolates ideas into product requirements and applies the philosophy of design to standard manufacturing
processes.
15. Maintains the DFMEA for the commercial packaged equipment.
16. Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in product development and processes.
17. Understands system requirements for electrical and mechanical systems on the equipment.
18. Selects and specifies material and components, including the evaluation of vendor bids and drawings, to assure
compliance with project specifications.
19. Generates Engineering Change notices as necessary.
20. Maintains project files, and ensures timely completion of deliverables according to the schedule.

Job Requirements

What we look for
Required
 
  • BS in Engineering with Mechanical Major or related science
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in air conditioning design or a related field,
  • Experience in a design and product development environment
  • Basic understanding of fundamental business practices
  • Well versed in Standard UL 1995, UL6033-2-40 and AHRI 340/360
  • Experience with design and construction of packaged air conditioning systems

Preferred

•MS in Engineering with Mechanical major or related science
•Experience in Creo3 CAD package
•CFD and / or FEA experience
•Working knowledge of microprocessor based or PLC control systems
